JOIN US ON A ROADTRIP THAT'S SURE TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

This year, PEMCO Insurance is sending teams of genuine Northwest-loving people to community events and activities across the state. Some are in support of a good cause, some just sound like a good time - but either way, we hope you'll stop by and say hi. Look for us wherever you see the big green PEMCO van. And if we miss each other, drop us a note here and tell us what's on your mind.

Remember, there's no place quite like home, especially this time of year. So get out there and enjoy!

Sounders v. Dynamo – Capturing Family Moments, One PEMCO Photo at a Time

July 13, 2009 5:25pm
There's a quote that says, "A picture is worth a thousand words."  This weekend, I had a chance to see how that sentiment rings especially true for many Northwest families at the Sounders FC's victorious match against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, July 11.

Filling in for a PEMCO Brand Ambassador at the PEMCO booth outside the stadium, this was my first experience at a Sounders match helping to capture souvenir photos of fans showing us their best "GOAL!" pose. However, for one Federal Way family, I soon learned that snapping a photo at PEMCO's booth meant much more than a simple souvenir. Decked out in "Inaugural Season Ticket Holder" Sounders scarves and an array of other neon-green and blue apparel, David and his family of four told us, "For us, these photos represent family – a time when we can get together, just the four of us. We prepare for the drive, put on our best Sounders gear and when we get to the North Lot of Qwest Field, we come straight for the PEMCO booth to add a picture to our growing collection."

To emphasize his point, David pulled out his cell phone to show us a mini slideshow of his family at the PEMCO photo booth. He must have had at least five PEMCO Northwest Profile #26 "'I Know I Am, I'm Sure I Am' Sounders FC Fan" photos of his family on his phone.

As Joann, Liz and I looked at the photos from week to week, David told me about his plan to make a scrapbook of his family's Sounders memories at the end of the season.

"We even used a picture PEMCO took for us at a Sounders game on our Mother's Day card this year!" David explained.

Attending Sounders games is a great chance for the four to spend quality time – or at least a full 90 minutes of intense cheering – together as a family.  The scrapbook is sure to be filled with many unforgettable moments, definitely worth a thousand words a few times over.

We'll be looking for David and other Northwesterners ready to strike a convincing "GOAL!" pose at the PEMCO booth next week as the Sounders take on Chelsea FC on July 18 at 12:00 p.m.

Really cool post. You always hear that sports can bring people together and it's nice to know that includes families as well. Too often with busy schedules and such, it seems that families aren't spending time together like they used to. It's nice to see this family makes a day of it while showing some hometown pride.

Very nice story.
